Create something with a collection. I have a decent collection of pez dispensers so I decided to pile them together to create a pez "mosaic". I am a huge fan of the stories where people find religious images in every day items; an average morning breakfast turns into a modern day miracle with people coming from miles around to admire a piece of toast.
My inspiration was a "Virgin Mary" underpass stain that people turned into a shrine a few blocks from my old place in Chicago. Here's a pic of my boyfriend standing by it. Personally I think it looks like something they would show as a scare tactic to inform teens of the hazards of unprotected sex.
Gross, right? Well here's an example of some fantastic parenting as a women helps her son to kiss that bum piss covered underpass wall:
Now that I have you salivating, here's my creation....
... you just have to squint your eyes....
....maybe take a step back....
WHOA I SEE IT! It's a miracle!

Creating new things daily (hopefully) while trying not to go broke in the process... and being obnoxious about it.

Day 4 Bonus!
I bought jiggly eyes and had to make something using them...
Then decided I was going to try to make a chandelier. I bought decorative stones, fishing line, a wire wreath frame, and glue sticks. Started looking good but the glue wasn't strong enough. Damn.

Day 4: Take A Walk
Go for a 5 min walk, stop make something with whatever is around. Well, everyone in the neighborhood decided to go for a walk right when I was trying to do this so I made these two quick creations.
First I grabbed a few dandelions and drew this dorky sidewalk "art". Impressed? Hey I didn't feel like doing dog doo sculptures so this is what you get:
A couple steps away there was a spider web so I added a little man in peril:
Since those took me all of 5 minutes while walking to the grocery store I guess I'll actually try to fix up this page a little tonight... maybe add a logo or maybe I'll just go to the bar.
Update: The bar won out. I did get crafty at the bar but mainly because the bands were particulary loud tonight and I couldn't hear my friends:
Napkins, a pen, and ear plugs...
Alien
Hillbilly

There was also a picture of a horse... use your imagination, the dirty one. That napkin's hanging at the bar.

Day 3: Paper Project
Make something out of paper without drawing, using scissors or glue. After wasting amazing amounts of time around the holidays doing origami *evidence* I decided that I would try something different... I decided to BURN SHIT! I started with a snowflake design, folding paper and burning holes (kind of cool). Then I tried burning a tree shape. I made a huge ASH mess (get it, instead of 'ass', PLUS ash is a kind of tree, that's bifunny).
I eventually decided to do this mummy, and yes, I cheated on the instructions.
I used the ashes of burnt paper to shade the eyes, nose, and mouth. I was never able to get the darkness or detail I wanted. The cheat here was using an adhesive but screw that burnt paper curls and to lay this out would have been pointless and painful.
Cheat two... used charcoal to draw facial features. I spent hours burning paper (and my fingertips) and less than one minute with the charcoal in between snapping pics. Such a forgiving medium.
By the way burning paper is best done in the tub, easy clean up and less chance of burning down the house (did you immediately sing those last four words Talking Head's style after reading them). Also, here's a crafty tip... while in there I realized I could paint water on the areas I didn't want to burn... but I wasted too much time figuring this out and moved on to making the mummy 'fuck it' style.

Day 2: Animal Inspiration
Today's suggestion was to make something inspired by your favorite animal. Since I room with a cat I figured I'd make her a new cat toy... out of an old sock. This way everytime she pisses me off I can laugh at her chewing on my gross old former foot covering. Take that jerk!
The doll turned out as sad as it looks in this picture. Poor bummed deformed attempt at a cat. Ah well, lesson learned, cut shapes then sew vs defining the shape by free style sewing.
Cat Benatar didn't like it either. *PAW PUNCH*
Here are two other sock creatures I made in the past that didn't turn out so sad... more weird than sad.

Day 1: Start Small
I'm always looking for new things to make; yesterday I found Noah Scalin's "356: A Daily Creativity Journal". I loved his Skull-A-Day project. It includes ideas for each day to help inspire your project.
Yesterday was my first day and the instructions were to start small: Create something using items from your immediate environment; it should fit in the palm of your hand. I had Sculpey sitting nearby after attempting to making some unintentionally ugly beads, so I made this fellow:
Bad quality image
Fuzzy image
I need a new camera.
I took him out of the oven and his nose, then head, then legs all fell off. Thank goodness for super glue. Next time I need to spend more time attaching the individual parts.

Old Craft Creations
Below are some items made prior to the creation of this blog. I know the picture sizes are erratic, future posts will be cleaner.
Toy Monster!
I made my monster using an IKEA wooden artist model, hot glue and toys from the bottom of my toy box. Yes, I really had all of this junk just laying around.
Sparkly Safety Pins
I've been all about making sparkly girly necklaces with safety pins; this is just one of them and not the best photo:
Shrinky Dink Jewelry
I love Shrinky Dinks & Fletch. Here is a pic of my Fletch & my emo kid bracelets.
Also made a black metal one:
Happy Thanksgiving
Drew this for my boyfriend for Thanksgiving while he played video games.
Sculpey Charms
Having fun with an H&M mag
My album purses.
Made from record covers, hot glue, and fabric and the primary inspiration for the title of this blog.
The Queen purse was not made using the actual album sleeve but instead a copy that I cemented to a piece of cardboard.
Magazine bug collection:
My obscene bachelorette party creations.
Sculpey Necklace
Sculpey Tiara
My Origami kick:
Alley find
Chair with no back and ugly yellow cushion. Redone with fabric scraps and black cloth.
Up-close (oops and sideways):
My cat loves fighting me through the chair. She looks sweet and innocent here, that's how she draws you in and then *wap* paw smack to the face!
I LOVE halloween!!
Halloween '05 (I think) went as the Mad Hatter. Hat made with posterboard, fabric, tape, and staples and an old Debbie Gibson style hat for the rim. I Decorated with silverwear, custom tag, and underneath kids tea pot attached to a headband.
Yeah my buddy Jack even scared me that night. I made little "eat me" cakes that I glued pins to and stuck around the vest and had tea bags hanging from the pockets.
Queen of Hearts: My flamingo croquet mallet: golf putter, felt, stuffing, pink feather boa, pink feather fan, styrofoam ball, and eventually I used black electrical tape for the legs and feet (not completed in this pic)
Blurry pic of my crown
I made little card men that hung from my hair and clothing
Janet Leigh from Psycho! Shower curtain, nude body suit, real knife that my friend filed down and welded to a plate that would sit against my chest, dripping blood window cling (created a great wet blood affect under one layer of shower curtain), wig, and halloween scab blood.
Shrinky Dinks
Posting my shrinky dinks last because I'm only demonstrating my tracing abilities (although I think I did well with coloring and shading). Many of these images came from Hi-Fructose Magazine
Before
After - A bit proud of this one because I only had red, green and yellow markers to work with.
I broke this one when cutting it, oh well, I still like it.
